Editorial
What Ortovox is good for
Strong at
- Emergency equipment from one brand: transceiver, probe, shovel, first aid and bivvy bag, also as a set.
- Wool in every layer, from the merino top to the insulated jacket with Metawool or Swisswool.
- Packs with their own safety compartment, many lines also with a shorter back length (S).
Not the focus
- Ortovox makes little for everyday city life. The brand comes from the mountains and stays there.
- A transceiver does not replace practice. Without a course and regular training it helps little in an emergency.

Why Ortovox
Ortovox comes from Taufkirchen near Munich and has made gear for the mountains since 1980. The brand calls protection its most important value, and that is what the range looks like: emergency equipment, packs with room for it, clothing with wool. Since 2011 Ortovox has been part of the Schwan-STABILO group.
