Two overall World Cups, 23 individual victories: Johannes Lamparter and Nordic combined between the hill and the cross-country course.

For Johannes Lamparter, the race starts before anyone enters the cross-country course. The Austrian combines ski jumping and cross-country skiing in Nordic combined. If you follow him through a full day of competition, you experience a short jump and a race whose outcome develops over a longer period. This combination is what makes his profile interesting ahead of 2026/27.

Lamparter won the overall World Cup in 2025/26 and is part of the Austrian national team for the coming winter. His major titles and the races in Seefeld give you a concrete starting point. Which competitions he actually takes part in will depend on later selections. His national-team status is the basis for this, not a complete start list.

Hall in Tirol and the Nordic Team Absam

Lamparter was born in Hall in Tirol and competes for the Nordic Team Absam. This places his origins and club in the Tyrolean Inn Valley. The region is the starting point of his international career. Nordic combined later takes him to hills and cross-country courses far beyond the Inn Valley.

He competed in his first World Cup in 2018. In the junior ranks, he subsequently won several World Championship titles. In 2021, the major World Championship successes followed in Oberstdorf: gold in the individual large hill event and gold in the team sprint. The individual and team titles belong to the same winter, but remain different competitions.

If you are new to Nordic combined, this career is a good reason to take both sports equally seriously. A successful jump is initially just one part of the day. The race has its own development. Anyone who only tunes in shortly before the finish misses an essential part of the starting situation.

Why the jumping and racing are considered together

In Nordic combined, performances on the hill and in the cross-country course are combined into one competition. In the Gundersen format, the jumping points determine the time gaps at the start of the cross-country race. The name refers to this conversion and starting format. Other formats may be structured differently, so check the programme for the specific race day.

For your view of Lamparter, this means keeping an eye on the connection between the jumping result and the course of the race. A position in the cross-country race cannot be explained by the pace of a single lap alone. The athletes start with a position determined by the first part.

We recommend following a full Nordic combined day. Watch the jumping, remember the gaps and then observe the race. This takes more time than attending a single jumping competition. In return, you see the connection between the two tasks directly instead of reading it only from a final results list.

Two overall World Cup victories and Olympic medals

Lamparter won the overall World Cup for the first time in 2022/23. The second success in the season series followed in 2025/26. At the 2026 Winter Games, he won silver in both individual competitions and bronze in the team sprint. The individual medals came on different hill sizes, while the team medal was won together with a partner.

His tally of 23 individual World Cup victories applies as at 22 October 2026. It includes the formats of Nordic combined classified as individual competitions. Team results are not included. This makes clear what the figure actually describes.

An overall World Cup victory represents many days of competition. An Olympic medal represents one specific competition. For 2026/27, both achievements provide a sporting starting point, but no guaranteed result. It remains interesting to see how jumping and cross-country racing relate to each other on each venue.

Another key event is the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun. The organiser gives the dates as 24 February to 7 March 2027, information accessed on 22 October 2026. Choose which competitions you want to watch in person based on the programme. Personal participation depends on selection by the national federation.

Seefeld offers a full Nordic combined day

The organiser has announced the Nordic Combined Triple in Seefeld from 29 to 31 January 2027. This information was checked on 22 October 2026. For a visit, decide whether you want to watch one full day or follow a series of competitions. Check the current programme for the exact format sequence.

For your spectator position, we recommend considering the hill and race area together before buying a ticket. Check which areas are accessible and which route is intended for moving between them. A good spot beside the jumping hill does not necessarily give you a view of the cross-country race.

The organiser's website mentions Seefeld railway station and the walk to the arena. Some transport information still explicitly refers to 2026. Do not assume that any free-travel rule or shuttle time applies in 2027 without checking. Ramsau is another Austrian point of reference. Before booking, have the desired race day confirmed, as the published dates differ.

From his home region to your own cross-country course

Compare accommodation based on the actual routes to the cable car and spectator access. A Nordic trip also involves getting to a suitable cross-country trailhead. If you want to watch the entire Triple, a consistently short route to the arena makes your stay easier. Make sure your own activities have a separate time slot.

On race day, take the gaps from the jumping with you into the cross-country race. Then, when the next group comes through, you see more than athletes simply passing by: you recognise how the starting position from the first part develops further in the second part of the competition.
