Where will it snow in the coming days?

Until Fri 23/10, Hochfügen gets the most new snow: 10 cm. Followed by Zillertal with 9 cm.

How is the forecast made?

The snow radar reads Open-Meteo model values on a grid of about 20 × 28 kilometres across the Alps and the German uplands. For every ski area it shows new snow for the next seven days, the weather and the snow line. It is a weather forecast, not a resort snow report.

What is the snow line?

It is the altitude above which precipitation falls as snow. We derive it from the freezing level, which is usually 200 to 400 metres higher. Ski areas above the snow line get snow instead of rain.

How current is the snow radar?

The data date is shown above the map (Data from today, 12:25). The forecast always starts today; days that have passed are left out.

Which ski areas are included?

52 ski areas in Austria, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and France, plus the German uplands: Black Forest, Sauerland, Harz, Ore Mountains and Bavarian Forest.
