Which layer for which temperature?

Dress so that you feel slightly cold when you set off. After the first few minutes you warm up, and with too many layers you soon start sweating. In the dark, add a reflective layer, for example the Reflective Shorts over your tights.

Lumen · Visibility

Lumen: be seen, even when it is dark

Lumen is made to keep you visible whatever the light. The reflective print bounces back the light of headlights and head torches and looks stylish rather than technical. The Packable Wind Jacket protects you from the wind and turns into a vest in a few moves. You can wear the Reflective Shorts on their own or over your tights.

Subz · Warmth

Subz: stay warm when temperatures drop

Subz was created in the Nordic winter landscape. The insulation sits where you need it, for example on the windward front, while the back and sleeves breathe. This lets you hold your pace even below zero. The Subz Jacket 4 and the Subz Vest 5 combine a windproof front with light insulation. The Subz Thermal Hood with an integrated balaclava protects your head and neck, and the Subz Bandana completes the range.

Vest & base layer

Add-ons: running vest and base layer

For long sessions, the Light Hydration Vest carries everything you need close to your body: seven pockets, two of them at the front for 500 ml soft flasks. Underneath goes a base layer that wicks moisture away from your skin. The Active Extreme X CN Long Sleeve for women and men fits close, is thin and light and goes under any Lumen or Subz jacket.

What Craft is good for

Strong at: layers for endurance sports in the cold, with base layer, insulating mid layer and windproof outer layer from one brand. According to Craft, the three-layer principle has been the basis of all its collections since the 1970s.

Not the focus: weather protection for long tours in constant rain. For that, look at hardshells with a high water column.

Fit: Lumen and Subz fit close and light and are cut for speed (according to the product descriptions at SportFits).

Why Craft

In the early 1970s, the Swede Anders Bengtson developed a new kind of sports underwear that releases moisture quickly. This gave rise to the three-layer principle on which Craft still builds all its collections today. The brand is still based in Borås, Sweden, and Craft equips the Norwegian biathlon and cross-country skiing team, among others.
