This is exactly where urban outdoor comes in. Trekking no longer means weeks of touring with a heavy backpack. Salewa has responded to the urban outdoor trend with a dedicated collection: the PUEZ line. Its name comes from the Puez-Geisler massif in the Dolomites, one of the Alps’ best-known trekking areas.
The campaign concept behind it is WE_AR\* NATURE, a deliberate double meaning: “Wear Nature” and “We Are Nature”.
The collection is designed specifically for a generation for whom city life and the outdoors are not separate parts of life. Classic high-alpine use is not its primary focus. If you are looking for a system for hut-to-hut hikes, trail runs and weekends in the city, PUEZ is a strong fit.
Materials: hemp, merino wool and technical innovationContents
The heart of the PUEZ philosophy lies in its choice of materials. Salewa relies on three material groups:
- Alpine Hemp is Salewa’s own hemp development. Compared with conventional cotton or polyester, hemp fibre offers several proven advantages: it is naturally tear-resistant and hard-wearing, helps regulate body temperature and is breathable. Hemp requires significantly less water to grow than cotton and needs no pesticides. In the PUEZ system, Alpine Hemp is combined with Sorona®, a bio-based polymer fibre partly made from maize starch that gives the fabric added softness and stretch.
- AlpineWool® is Salewa’s merino wool blend with Tencel™, a cellulose fibre made from wood pulp. The combination pairs merino wool’s thermoregulating comfort with Tencel’s moisture-management properties.
- Recycled polyester is used where technical performance takes priority, such as in the PUEZ 2.5L PTX Jacket, which is made from 57% recycled polyester. This is a verifiable product figure, not a general sustainability claim.
