Salewa PUEZ: trekking clothing for city and mountains
Salewa is rethinking trekking. The PUEZ collection brings urban style and alpine performance together, using hemp, merino wool and recycled materials instead of relying on conventional polyester.
When city life and the mountains overlap
The outdoor look reached the city a long time ago. What you once saw mainly on hiking trails, hut-to-hut tours and alpine adventures is now just as much part of the streetscape: functional jackets, sturdy shoes, technical fabrics and clean outdoor silhouettes. Wearing outdoor clothing every day has become more than a passing fashion. It stands for an active life between city and nature.

Salewa has answered the urban outdoor trend with a dedicated collection: the PUEZ line. It takes its name from the Puez-Odle massif in the Dolomites, one of the best-known trekking areas in the Alps.
The campaign idea behind it is WE_AR* NATURE, a deliberate double meaning: "Wear Nature" and "We Are Nature".
The collection is aimed squarely at a generation for whom city life and the outdoors are not separate worlds. Classic high-alpine use isn't its main focus. If you want one system for hut hikes, trail runs and weekends in the city, PUEZ is a good fit.
Materials: hemp, merino wool and technical fabrics
The choice of materials is the core of PUEZ. Salewa works with three groups:
- Alpine Hemp is Salewa's own hemp development. According to Salewa, hemp fibre has several advantages over conventional cotton or polyester: it is naturally tear-resistant and hard-wearing, regulates body temperature and breathes well. Hemp also needs considerably less water to grow than cotton and can be grown without pesticides. In the PUEZ system, Alpine Hemp is combined with Sorona®, a polymer fibre that, according to the manufacturer, is partly made from corn starch and adds softness and stretch.
- AlpineWool® is Salewa's merino wool blend with Tencel™, a cellulose fibre made from wood pulp. The mix pairs the temperature-regulating comfort of merino with Tencel's moisture management.
- Recycled polyester is used where technical performance comes first, for example in the PUEZ 2.5L PTX Jacket, which is made from 57% recycled polyester. That is a verifiable product specification, not a general promise.

Yes, with one clear limit. With a 10,000 mm hydrostatic head and fully taped seams, the PUEZ 2.5L PTX Jacket meets the demands of alpine trekking and hiking in bad weather. For technical high-alpine tours, climbing routes or winter glacier trips, Salewa recommends its own Alpinist line.
What does the "Salewa Committed" label mean?
"Salewa Committed" is Salewa's own label. According to the brand, it marks products made in line with audited environmental and social standards. Not every product in the PUEZ line carries it.
Does the PUEZ CAMMINO and PUEZ PTX layering system work all year round?
The pair is designed for spring to autumn. The Cammino PL keeps you warm into mild autumn weather, and the PTX Jacket protects you from rain and wind. In temperatures well below freezing the system isn't enough on its own; you'd need an extra insulating layer.
Which materials are used in the PUEZ line?
The collection uses Alpine Hemp, Sorona®, merino and recycled polyester, which makes up 57% of the PUEZ 2.5L PTX Jacket. Salewa says it discloses supply chain information under its "Salewa Committed" label. Whatever the brand, using a garment for a long time is the biggest single way to improve its environmental footprint.
